We deliver RYA Shorebased Theory Courses from our Barcelona Palamos Classrooms at Club Nautic Costa Brava Marina Spain. You can combine your RYA Theory Course with RYA Practical Sailing or choose from RYA Day Skipper Theory, RYA Coastal Yachtmaster Theory or RYA Yachtmaster Ocean. Blue Oyster Sailing RYA Shorebased Theory Course Students

January 2019 was a busy month at Blue Oyster Sailing with Fast Track Courses running which included RYA Shorebased Training. In the photo are Benoit, Nona, Joe, Eric, Kester and Alexander who have now all successfully completed their navigational training. Benoit, Joe and Eric have continued with Nona on their Fast TRack journey and are now mile building in the Atlantic aboard our Sail Training Yacht Dogstar. Our courses start every Monday all year from Barcelona Bases and Gibraltar.

Blue Oyster Sailing Shore Based Theory Courses start every Monday all Year including Christmas and New Year!

RYA Theory Courses are shore based and are completed in one of our classrooms. We have classrooms in Gibraltar, Port Olimpic Barcelona, Palamos and L'Escala. They include a RYA Theory Pack, lunch and tuition by fully qualified RYA Shore based Theory Instructors.

The Theory Course can be combined with a practical course to enable RYA Competent Crew students to continue their training with a 9 day course RYA Day Skipper Combined which will enable you to charter yachts with this Internationally Recognised Licence.

Duncan Pell will guide you through the course effortlessly and then one of our Practical Instructors will take you to sea.

Now on my way back home from a very nice vacation. I joined Blue Oyster Day Skipper Practical and Theory from 6th of August to 15th of August 2017 in Gibraltar. My practical trainer a very skilled sailor and has excellent skills in teaching and passing on he knowledge. I learned a lot and from him, so now I fell skilled and safe going on my own as captain on yacht. And as an extra bonus he knows the Gibraltar history and he is a very nice person to be with, great guy. We had a great crew and an amazing week that I will never forget.

My best recommendation:) Theory with Duncan Pell. He made me work hard every day never gave me a chance to slip away. Very qualified in teaching sailing theory. Made me feel secure in navigating and all other procedures related to being a captain. Interesting person to be with we had many great talks.

If you are considering crossing over from a foreign Licence to RYA Yachtmaster Offshore you will find the MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency) demand all MCA Yachtmaster Candidates to have a good command of spoken English and demonstrate this on board during assessment. In order to assist students whose first language is not English you can complete English Language Training Revison as an additional module to all of our courses. Full information is given here.

Congratulations to the Blue Oyster students who all successfully passed their RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Assessments with us this month. All are now able to work in the Industry with commercially endorsed qualifications. The 14 and 15 week courses include all the training required to successfully Skipper a Yacht Power or Sail (dependent on course option) up to 200 gross tons. Fabiano joined us from Brazil, Duncan from The UAE, Matt Harry and George from UK. A tremendous effort by all involved enjoy your Christmas break chaps. RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster and RYA Day Skipper Shore based Theory Courses Barcelona or Gibraltar

Barcelona RYA Day Skipper Theory Courses start Mondays throughout the year. Small groups of students working shorebased with our RYA Yachtmaster Instructors. The five day course includes accommodation on board one of our yachts for the duration of the course. Breakfasts bedding and all study material are included. The weekly courses start from £395 in winter to £495 in summer months. We also have shore based accommodation available in a nearby Costa Brava Villa or a selection of Hotels should you wish.
