The RYA Theory Courses start with RYA Day Skipper Theory, which is a 40 hour shorebased course, either 5 day or weekends or by distance learning, the RYA Coastal Skipper which in effect is the Yachtmaster Theory Assessment follows the same format. RYA Yachtmaster Ocean is a 40 hour course studying Celestial Navigation and Ocean Passage Planning.
